Ingredients

Beef Layer

  • 450 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 115 g cream cheese
  • 120 ml heavy cream
  • 60 g shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sugar free ketchup
  • 2 large eggs

Toppings

  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 60 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 60 g shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped pickles for garnish
  • Sliced green onions or chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 175°C and lightly grease a 20 x 20 cm baking dish to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Cook Beef Layer: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with finely chopped onion and minced garlic until the meat is no longer pink. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper to taste. Drain excess fat if needed to keep the casserole from being greasy.
  3. Prepare Baking Dish: Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish to form the base layer of the casserole.
  4. Make Cheese Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the cream cheese, heavy cream, yellow mustard, sugar free ketchup, eggs, and shredded cheddar cheese until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  5. Assemble Casserole: Pour the cheese sauce evenly over the beef layer in the baking dish, ensuring full coverage.
  6. Add Toppings: Sprinkle the crumbled bacon, shredded mozzarella cheese, and additional shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the surface. Garnish with chopped pickles and sliced green onions or parsley if desired for added flavor and color.
  7. Bake: Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Rest and Serve: Allow the casserole to rest for several minutes after baking before slicing and serving to let the flavors meld and the dish set.
